In terms of brand influence and popularity, Kubota undoubtedly ranks among the most renowned engines in the world. It has won the favor of many users with its good noise reduction effect and simple structure.
But as a 25-year mechanical engineer, I prefer Yanmar engines for a reason. What is it?
Firstly, Yanmar's power is usually greater than that of Kubota engines it competes with. Under the same maintenance frequency, Yanmar's durability is usually superior. Kubota's structure is simple, which leads to its cooling system not working well under high load conditions and being prone to cylinder scoring.
Kubota is undoubtedly the champion in terms of fuel economy and noise, but considering the durability issue, Yanmar's overall economy is undoubtedly higher. Therefore, as a mechanical engineer, I prefer to use machinery equipped with the Yanmar brand engine for work.
Of course, as the world's top brand, Kubota also has its own unique advantages. It usually has emission certifications from all over the world. However, for European countries, Yanmar is sufficient because Yanmar also has the Euro V certification applicable to all EU countries.
Many of our excavators use Kubota's Z482 and D722 engines, and we also use Yanmar on 18 models and smaller excavators. Because it not only has greater power, stronger durability, and is cheaper, for European distributors, the Yanmar engine is undoubtedly the optimal choice for economy and durability.
